About Heritage Painting, Inc.

I started working as a painter when I was 14 years old. It happened by accident. My Dad was repainting the trim on our home and he sent me to sand down our front columns. I did sand them, but not just to a smooth, paintable surface, but down to the bare wood. Our neighbor was a painting contractor and when he saw what I had done – he hired me on the spot for the whole summer!

I continued painting throughout summer breaks in high school and even came home from college to paint in the summer. But my sites were set on taking the business world by storm and I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

After graduating I moved to Durham, North Carolina and worked in the loan department of a bank. I married my college sweetheart, Audra who was a school teacher and we settled down. There was just one problem – sitting behind that desk every day was driving me crazy!

At the same time, the incredibly high pollen count in North Carolina was driving Audra crazy. So, we packed up and moved to Colorado Springs to be close to family at Peterson Air Force Base.

Once here, Audra found a teaching job in the start of the new school year, but I never went back to that desk. I worked for a few years for other painting companies. First as a painter and then in management.

Finally, in 2006 we decided to strike out on our own and open Heritage Painting. It was one of the best decisions we ever made. We love owning a company and doing quality work for the people here in Colorado Springs. As a small, family-owned, local business we enjoy working with other local businesses in building our beautiful city. At that time our son was starting the second grade. Years later he came home from school and started to work with us. We love being a multi-generational company!
